Seattle’s 17th Tango Cabaret Returns to the Century Ballroom.
Seattle,
WA July 31, 2010 - On Friday, September 10, and Saturday, September 11, Seattle’s 17th Tango Cabaret
hits the stage at the Century Ballroom. The show’s feature performers are internationally acclaimed Eduardo Saucedo
and Marisa Quiroga, with a special performance by Eva Lucero and Patricio Touceda who have returned from
Cirque du Soleil. This show has two fantastic and totally different singers, Argentine Vocalist Ernesto Rassi and tango rapper
Momo Smitt. The spectacular performances of dancing and music combined with fine dining, and social dancing will create a
truly unique evening of laughter, romance, and elegance.
Eduardo and Marisa have performed around
the world and star in one of Buenos Aires most popular shows at Cafeteria Ideal. Eduardo
is a popular teacher in the North West, and this time he is traveling with his beautiful partner Marisa. Together they create
all the passion, playfulness and richness of Argentine Tango.
Eva and Patricio are spectacular tango
performers. They stared in the Tango Cabaret 4 years ago before leaving to Macao to
perform with Cirque du Soleil. They have also starred in Forever Tango and performed around the world.
They are busy now with their new baby and creating a new show for Seattle at Club Sur.
Ernasto
Rassi sings from his heart capturing the sole of tango. El canta muy tradicional. He was born
in Argentina where he studied music, dance and theater, then spent 20 years in Spain, working in theater centered around Argentine
Tango. This will be his first time performing in Seattle. He currently is the Director of California a
Todo Tango Company. http://californiaatodotango.weebly.com/
Momo Smitt is a rapper
from Ashland Oregon who loves Argentine Tango. He describes his music as socially conscious hip hop based in recovery, personal
growth, politics, equality, and the environment. He is a truly unique performer whose music will surprise
and inspire the audience.
The rest of the cast includes dance instructors Michelle Badion, Wladimir
Pino, Evan Wallace, Patty Leverett, Alison Cockrill, Pablo Tapia, Erica Atnip, Rex Kinney, Kirsten Barron,
Carmen Elisa Valencia, Greg Frost, Vivian Konstantakos , Brian Halbert, Rachel Burnton and some surprises.
The
hosts for the evening will be Ernesto and Momo. They will have fun debating the merits of tradition tango verses the Nuevo
tango. Each number expresses tango in a different way, from the most traditional to the most modern, —exploring
its passion, glamour, fantasy, romance, drama and humor, mesmerizing audiences once again with the intricacies, power and
beauty of Argentine Tango. Both singers will have their CD's for sale after the show.
The historic
Century Ballroom offers a delicious menu for dining before the show, a full bar, and great atmosphere. After the show on Friday,
the evening continues with Argentine tango social dancing. On Saturday, the show is followed by a lively salsa dance. Novice
dancers can participate in the beginner lesson between the show and dance (tango on Friday, salsa on Saturday).
